Sweden has begun negotiations on the supply of Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson confirmed in an interview with The Kyiv Independent that Sweden is actively discussing the issue of transferring Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine as part of international efforts to support the country. These talks are taking place in the context of the so-called “fighter coalition”, which includes the United States and other countries, which aims to supply Ukraine with advanced military aircraft and provide necessary pilot training through joint partnership programs.

In light of mixed support from the United States, Johnson called on the European Union to increase military assistance to Ukraine, emphasizing the need for European countries to take a greater role in defense support for Kyiv. Particular attention was paid to the activities of Nammo, one of the largest European defense manufacturers, which has significantly increased its production capacity. Operating in five shifts, the company has achieved record productivity levels and plans to triple production of artillery ammunition for the Ukrainian armed forces in the future, although this plan will take several years to implement.
