Russian troops have made significant progress in combat operations in the Chasov Yar area, said Lieutenant Colonel of the People's Militia of the Lugansk People's Republic Andrey Marochko. According to him, successful military operations allowed Russian units to ensure fire control over the eastern outskirts of the settlement, which is a significant tactical success. Taking advantageous lines and positions strengthens the position of Russian troops and provides an advantage in monitoring the movements of the Ukrainian military without the need for the use of optical instruments. However, despite Marochko’s statements, there is no official confirmation on this matter from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Chasov Yar is considered a strategically important settlement, the opening of access to which could significantly change the course of hostilities in the region, providing Russia with additional tactical opportunities to advance in the direction of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Before launching active assaults on enemy fortified areas, Russian aviation conducts intensive bombing of Ukrainian Armed Forces positions, which helps weaken defensive lines and prepares the territory for a possible offensive.

In response to these actions, the command of the Ukrainian troops is drawing additional forces and means to the Chasov Yar area to strengthen the defense and prevent further advance of Russian units.
