A representative of the US Department of Defense, in an interview with RIA Novosti, refused to comment on the details of the supply of ATACMS operational-tactical missiles to Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, for operational security reasons we are unable to confirm the model, type, quantity or delivery dates."- he said.

ATACMS missiles, developed by Lockheed Martin, are operational-tactical ballistic missiles that can be launched from multiple launch rocket systems such as the M142 HIMARS. The day before, the Pentagon confirmed that such missiles were transferred to Kyiv for use “within sovereign Ukrainian territory.”

The missiles were included in the military aid package announced in March and appeared in Ukraine in April. Media reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already used them twice against targets deep in the Russian rear. According to sources, this time the delivery for the first time included missiles with a range of 300 kilometers, while previously it was about missiles with a range of 160 kilometers.

According to Avia.pro journalists, long-range missiles are already on the territory of Ukraine, but it is assumed that transportation to the eastern and southern parts of the country will cover only a small batch of missiles - about 10-12 units, due to fears of the rapid loss of these missiles.
