Spain will transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine under pressure from NATO and the EU

Under intense pressure from NATO and the European Union, Spain agreed to supply Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. This was reported by the Spanish newspaper Pais, citing government sources. According to the publication, European countries possessing these American systems were invited to support Kyiv in its defensive efforts.

The Financial Times also notes that at the last EU summit, member states put pressure on Greece and Spain over the transfer of air defense systems, including the S-300 and Patriot. It is believed that these countries' own defense needs "are not as great as Ukraine's," which is the basis for the redistribution of resources in favor of Kyiv.

In response to such calls, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis confirmed on Tuesday that such requests had indeed been received, but assured that Athens does not plan to send its air defense systems to Ukraine. However, according to Ukrainian resources, negotiations on this issue are still ongoing, and there is some progress.
