Minsk will consider the appearance of nuclear weapons in neighboring countries a military threat

The new military doctrine of Belarus, approved by the All-Belarusian People's Assembly and published on the national legal Internet portal, classifies the deployment of nuclear, biological weapons and other types of weapons of mass destruction on the territory of neighboring states that are pursuing an unfriendly policy against Minsk as the main external military threats.

The document clarifies that threats mean not only the presence of such weapons among neighbors, but also the production of them or their components in border areas. Belarus is also closely monitoring military activity near its borders, including the regrouping and deployment of troops, especially those on high alert and operating in violation of international treaties that control military action. However, earlier in Poland they proposed placing nuclear weapons on the country’s territory in response to the appearance of such weapons in Belarus.

In addition, the doctrine points to the threats associated with the possible penetration of illegal armed groups into Belarus or the actions of regular troops of other states under the guise of such. Internal armed conflict on the territories of allies and neighboring states, which could escalate into an international conflict, is also included in the list of military dangers.

Minsk expresses concerns about possible information and technical impacts on critically important objects of its infrastructure, considering this as a form of hidden aggression.
