US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Geoffrey Pyatt expressed the intention of the American authorities to tighten sanctions measures against the Russian energy sector, emphasizing their readiness to introduce new restrictions. In his speech he assured:

“There will be even more sanctions. I promise you this."

Although Pyatt did not disclose the details of the planned measures, he mentioned actions already taken. Among them is the introduction of a certification procedure for sea carriers, designed to monitor compliance with the established price limit for Russian energy resources, as well as sanctions against those who try to circumvent these restrictions, including against the large Russian transport company Sovcomflot.

It was also announced that the United States intends to block the development of new Russian energy projects, which indicates Washington's desire to increase pressure on key sectors of the country's economy as part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
