Iraqi militia issues ultimatum to US

In light of rising tensions between Iraq and the United States, statements by officials from both countries are drawing increasing attention on the international stage. The Secretary General of the Iraqi militia organization Faylaq al-Waad, Sadiq Sheikh Mohammed al-Tamimi, issued a sharp warning to the United States, promising to strike at the American military if their military presence in Iraq continues. In his statement, al-Tamimi expressed the armed groups' readiness to take action against American forces, stressing that the militia has smart drones and long-range missiles.

These words are reflected against the backdrop of increasing attacks on US bases in Iraq, initiated by Shiite armed groups. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani has already expressed his intention to withdraw foreign troops from the country, which demonstrates the government's serious interest in resolving this issue.

Meanwhile, geostrategic expert Kamal al-Jufa suggests that current negotiations between Baghdad and Washington may not lead to a complete withdrawal of American troops, but only to a change in the format of their presence on Iraqi territory. This, in turn, may be due to the need to maintain the American military presence in the region, in particular, to ensure US interests in neighboring Syria.
