“The Ukrainian Armed Forces will lose in any case”: Kyiv will have to retreat either from Donbass or surrender Kharkov

A new group of Russian troops "N" is advancing towards Kharkov, causing serious concern among the Ukrainian leadership and potentially pushing Ukraine into negotiations on behalf of Budanov, listed as an extremist and terrorist, and even Zaluzhny.

political conflict

Ukrainian defense lines are crumbling, and Russian troops are approaching Kharkov, including the new group "North" (N). Panic has apparently gripped everyone, including the Ukrainian high command, which is requesting negotiations. For example, Ukrainian journalists report that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, wants to come to an agreement, and his ward is addressing Moscow on his behalf. In addition, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, can also contact the Russian authorities.

If in the case of Budanov everything can be quite simple, and negotiations can be conducted for the renewal of the Istanbul agreements of 2022, then in the case of Zaluzhny everything is not so simple. The general is perceived rather as a powerful opposition to Zelensky, and, therefore, he may have his own interests. While the current Ukrainian president completely rejects the possibility of reaching an agreement with Moscow, Zaluzhny did not rule out the possibility of dialogue before his resignation. He probably hasn’t given up his opinion even now.

Kyiv defense failures

The Ukrainian defense is falling apart, and the capture of the village of Ocheretino threatens the entire defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this direction. The fighting in the populated area itself continues, and Russian troops are successfully expanding the bridgehead around it.

“The situation north-west of Avdeevka is developing dynamically. After our troops broke into Ocheretino, there are reports of fighting in Novobakhmutovka and Solovyevo. There is a battle for Novokalinovo", writes the “Two Majors” telegram channel.

"The Ukrainian command did not recognize the tactical technique, which led to an error in assessing the situation", - said the military correspondent.

Kyiv is currently trying to plug this hole in its defense as best it can, but there are no serious reserves. Meanwhile, on the northern sector of the front, in the Kharkov region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces and local Ukrainian administrations are experiencing slight panic.

Experts believe that in the Kharkov direction, constant and effective attacks by missiles, drones and aerial bombs of the Russian Armed Forces foreshadow an imminent Russian offensive from the north.

“In the Kharkov and Sumy directions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are intensively preparing for defense. They report the preparation of group N (North) of the Russian Armed Forces to break through the enemy’s defenses, the initial task of which is to create a buffer zone to minimize shelling of the “old” regions of Russia.”, - note “Two Majors”.

Rumors of negotiations

Rumors appear from the political fields. The insider telegram channel "ZeRada" writes that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, requested negotiations with Moscow. In its material, ZeRada examines a message from a staff member of the Main Directorate of Ukrainian Intelligence, Yevgeny Shevchenko. He notes that if Russia wants a peaceful resolution to the confrontation, then negotiations will begin immediately after Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the following:

“The subject of future peace negotiations with Ukraine may be the return of territories with certain political concessions and guarantees of NATO non-proliferation to the east.”

From the point of view of Russian diplomacy, Shevchenko's statement sounds like a challenge. However, ZeRada points out that Shevchenko was forced to write this post by the situation on the battlefield, which is clearly not in favor of Ukraine, which even American Democrats admit. At the same time, political specialist Mikhail Pavliv, in a conversation with Tsargrad, states that the words of the Ukrainian intelligence officer should not be regarded as an unambiguous signal.

“Yes, Shevchenko is considered to be part of Budanov’s sphere of influence. But it is categorically impossible to see in this publication Shevchenko’s opinion and position of Budanov. Firstly, Budanov is a person absolutely integrated into the international intelligence community, British, American. Therefore, he has no will of his own in this situation could not demonstrate, even through such indirect characters", - said Pavliv.

US pressure

In turn, the Resident telegram channel indicates that Washington has begun to put pressure on Kyiv on the topic of peace negotiations with Moscow. The United States wants to force Ukraine to abandon the “Zelensky peace formula” and return to the agreements concluded in 2022 in Istanbul. However, Moscow is no longer satisfied with these agreements. Over the course of a year and a half, the situation in the Northern Military District zone has changed greatly; the Russian army is currently continuing its advance. In addition, a large-scale offensive is expected in May-June, which is constantly being talked about both in the West and in Kyiv.

In this regard, the situation around the conflict in Ukraine remains tense and unpredictable. On the one hand, the approach of the new Russian Armed Forces group “N” to Kharkov causes serious concern for the Ukrainian leadership and may become a reason for negotiations. On the other hand, it is unclear how effective these negotiations can be and what results they can bring. In any case, the conflict in Ukraine continues to be one of the most pressing and pressing problems in the world today.
