Vinod Kumar NEB. Biography. Fighting. Awards. Ranks. A photo.
Vinod was a young Indian pilot when in 1965, the war broke out between India and Pakistan. During the fighting, being a part of 27-Squadron, he flew on the "Hunter".
Once this fighter he and his friend took off on patrol. Soon the ground came the order to return immediately, because they attacked the airfield Pakistani aircraft. Around its base the Indians faced with a couple of "Sabres", who were returning after a raid. NEB took aim and fired a burst at the closest enemy aircraft. Pakistani caught fire and crashed - it was the first victory for Vinod.
To win the next victory, Nebu had to wait another 6 years. In 1971, he served on the Eastern sector as part of 27-Squadron. In one of the raids on the Dhaka unit intercepted him, "Sabres". After a brief fight NEB said they downed fighter. But the Pakistani side has not confirmed this victory.
On that day, the Indians declared that knocked 4 "Sabre", and Pakistanis blamed 3. And there is a high probability that Vinod victory took place in an air battle.
