Arrested Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov denies the accusations against him

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, accused of bribery, denies the accusations against him, his defense said. Ivanov’s lawyer claims that the case file contains no evidence of the transfer of a bribe, and also that money does not appear as the subject of a bribe.

A third defendant is also being investigated in the criminal case, accused of bribing a deputy minister. According to a source familiar with the situation, a preventive measure has not yet been determined against this person.

According to a RIA Novosti source, after his arrest, Timur Ivanov will be placed in a quarantine cell in a pre-trial detention center, where he will undergo medical examinations and consultation with a psychologist. They will also select cellmates for him. There is a possibility that Ivanov could be sent to the well-known Lefortovo or Kremlin Central pre-trial detention center.

Lawyers for the Deputy Minister of Defense clarified that the charges are related to the help of companies that disinterestedly carried out construction and repair work for Ivanov. Ivanov’s representatives emphasize that the accusations are not supported by facts of financial transactions or direct transfer of money, which makes the evidence in the case controversial.
