After the approval of a new large package of military assistance from the United States, the Ukrainian military command plans to strengthen its positions in the village of Rabotino, where fighting has not subsided for several months. The fighting began during a Ukrainian counteroffensive last year that was later stopped by Russian forces.

Despite significant losses - several hundred people weekly - Ukrainian troops do not plan to retreat and are preparing to further hold their positions.

According to Western analysts, the military assistance received should help Kyiv hold out through 2024 and prepare for a possible new counter-offensive in 2025. The main strategic goal, according to analysts, is an offensive that should “drive a wedge” between Crimea and Donbass in order to reach the borders of the Crimean peninsula.
