Harpia - tactical unmanned aerial vehicle of Brazilian manufacture, designed by companies «AEL Sistemas» and «Embraer».
Development and design of multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle Harpia model began by Brazilian aircraft manufacturers on the basis of demand of the armed forces of this country. Initially it was assumed that the new UAV will be used only for reconnaissance, however, because of the quality and cooperative approach by «AEL Sistemas» and «Embraer», experts managed to provide the drone of the model with modern facilities that allow not only to receive information and data, but also produce their direct processing.
UAV Harpia developed for quite some time, in particular, the first work on the creation of the UAVs were deployed in 2011 year, and only at the end of 2013 years drone Harpia underwent its first flight tests, which culminated in a very successful, which is why the device was received by the mass production.
According to 2016 year for the Brazilian Air Force is armed UAV 4 Harpia model, while it is assumed that such drones in the near future will also be exported to other countries - the main reason for this is called a very low cost and high performance.
Harpia UAV is equipped with two cameras - for electro-optical transmission and processing of images from the area in high-resolution mode, as well as the infrared, allowing the drone to use even in conditions of poor visibility or at night. Harpia UAV can be controlled in the immediate presence of a person, and in a fully autonomous mode, including self landing at a given point.
Brazilian UAV maximum flight altitude is 6500 meters, while the maximum flight range is limited to a distance in kilometers 100, however, the study of a particular area of the terrain, the drone can stay aloft for up to 9 hours.
