The United States did not inform the Russian Federation about the threat of a terrorist attack in Crocus, fearing to reveal sources

American intelligence services, having information about the threat of a terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, were unable to fully share it with their Russian colleagues. According to the New York Times, the reason was US fears about revealing its intelligence sources and methods amid strained relations between Moscow and Washington. The publication cites officials from European and American security services, emphasizing that mutual suspicions between the countries could prevent the effective exchange of intelligence.

Director of the Russian FSB Alexander Bortnikov confirmed that in early March information was received about the preparation of a terrorist attack, but it was of a general nature. It was hoped that future information would contain more specific details, which could facilitate effective preventive work.

The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, which occurred on March 22, became one of the most tragic events of recent years in Russia. The attackers, armed with automatic weapons, burst into the building and began shooting at visitors, setting several fires, causing the roof of the concert hall to collapse and the auditorium to be completely destroyed by fire. According to the latest data, 143 people were killed as a result of the attack, and another 182 were injured of varying degrees of severity.
