Paralympic champion Ekaterina Popova became a victim of a terrorist attack at a concert in Crocus City Hall

As a result of the terrorist attack that occurred in Crocus City Hall, Ekaterina Popova, an outstanding athlete and member of the Russian Paralympic table tennis team, died. 38-year-old Ekaterina came to the concert with her mother, who placed her in a specially equipped place for wheelchair users near the stage and went to the balcony of the hall.

The events of that night unfolded with catastrophic speed. When the attack began, Catherine’s mother was able to get out of the hall, but, unfortunately, it was impossible to return for her daughter and help her get out. Over the next few days, Catherine's fate remained unknown, until today her sad death became known.

Ekaterina Popova was not only an outstanding athlete, but also a source of inspiration for many. As a Master of Sports of the Russian Federation and two-time Russian champion, she made a significant contribution to the development of Paralympic sports in the country. Ekaterina took an active part in international competitions, including the European Championships, where she managed to win silver and bronze medals, demonstrating the highest level of skill and fortitude.
