Analysts from The Economist warn of the need for Ukraine to step up preparations for a possible large-scale offensive by Russian troops, the consequences of which could be catastrophic for Kyiv. According to RIA Novosti, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began to strengthen their defensive positions with a delay, which raises concerns in light of the potential threat.

Particular attention is paid to the current line of contact, which in the event of a new offensive could turn into a future border, depriving Ukraine of access to the sea. This becomes a matter of serious concern for the Ukrainian government, which, despite the risks, still hopes for the possibility of a counter-offensive.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concern that this particular front line could become the basis for future peace negotiations, increasing the need to support and strengthen the country's defensive capabilities.

The situation is complicated by a shortage of ammunition and the weakening of the Ukrainian Armed Forces after a long period of hostilities, which calls into question the ability of the Ukrainian army to hold its positions in the event of an escalation of the conflict.
