Militants of the Balochistan Liberation Army attacked the international airport in Turbat

On the evening of March 27, in the city of Turbat, located in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, militants of the Baluchistan Liberation Army attacked the international airport, which serves not only for civilian flights, but is also used by the country's naval aviation. The incident was one of the biggest security breaches in the region in recent times as the airport is the second largest air port in Balochistan.

The main target of the attack, according to the separatists, was the control centers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are actively used by the Pakistani military to attack separatist positions. According to witnesses and local media, the clash between the militants and the military lasted more than six hours, during which at least ten loud explosions were heard.

Propaganda resources affiliated with the Baluchistan Liberation Army stated that the attack managed to destroy two military drones and kill about thirty Pakistani soldiers. However, officials from the Pakistani Ministry of Defense denied these data, reporting the elimination of six attackers and the loss of one soldier as a result of the firefight. The ministry's report also clarifies that there was minimal damage to the airport's critical infrastructure.

The situation in Balochistan remains tense, as the region has for years been the scene of confrontation between the Pakistani military and various separatist groups seeking greater autonomy or complete independence from Pakistan.
