Young heroes of Crocus: how teenagers saved people during a terrorist attack

In the chaos and horror that enveloped Crocus City Hall during the tragic terrorist attack, the actions of several young heroes, employees of the complex, stood out, who showed incredible courage and resourcefulness in helping people find ways to salvation. One of these brave souls was Elizaveta Terekhova, who, despite her own fear and risk to her life, was able not only to save herself, but also to guide others to the exits.

Elizabeth admitted that in moments of extreme danger she found the strength to think not only about herself: “In fact, I had very little strength, because I was scared, very much afraid for my life. I could save myself, but people would hardly have guessed where are the exits and ran towards the terrorists."

Another hero of this story, Alexander Zhurik, acted as the final link, convincing and directing people to the service door, which became their path to salvation. Alexander and his comrade, the latter of whom is now in the hospital, having suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, did everything possible to ensure the safe evacuation of those present.

These actions of the young Crocus employees were adequately appreciated at the highest level. An awards ceremony took place in the State Duma, at which the heroic teenagers were presented with thanks from deputies, as well as valuable gifts, including laptops and souvenirs. Among the recipients were Nikita Ivanov, Islam Khalilov, Artemy Filimonov, Victoria Volchikhina, Alexander Zhurik and Elizaveta Terekhova.
