Electric aircraft: the future that has come

The era of aircraft construction, which began more than a century ago, in the near future may radically change, and, due to this it will not be the creation of any unique aircraft, but the refinement of the existing structures. To date, the cost of flying an aircraft from one point of the globe to another is mainly determined by the amount of fuel spent, and although the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, in particular, the Airbus and Boeing corporations, are actively investing in the creation of more effective engines, however, if the flights and manage to reduce the price, then no more than 10-12%. Nevertheless, not everyone realizes that the future of aviation has already come, in particular, to date, there are five different models of electric aircraft capable of moving at long distances, while spending at 40-50% less fuel.

The European aircraft building corporation Airbus has achieved the greatest success in the creation of electric aircraft. This is due primarily to the fact that the European manufacturer is well aware that far from all regions of the globe there is a sufficient amount of hydrocarbon fuel, and given the constant demand for it, already in the future, the cost of oil, as well as the fuel created on its basis, only will continue to grow. Proceeding from this, the corporation "Airbus" has been working for several years on the creation of electric aircraft, and it is a question of both private aircrafts and full-scale airliners capable of transporting up to 180-150 passengers on their board.

An excellent example of the engineering idea of aircraft designers from the corporation "Airbus" is the Vahana project, which is a single-seat aircraft that can be used for flights, both in the city and at rather impressive distances. It is assumed that such aircraft in the near future will replace conventional vehicles, since with the help of this aircraft it is possible to navigate unobstructed at distances up to 150 kilometers with a maximum speed of flight of 120 km / h.

No less interesting project of the Airbus Corporation is the CityAirbus electric vehicle, which is one of the types of public transport, in particular, with the help of this aircraft, it will be possible to move within a radius of 50 kilometers, with a maximum capacity on board up to 14 people. It is assumed that after the start of mass production of these aircraft, the cost of the flight in them will be about 20 dollars for every 10 kilometers of the route, which is very acceptable.

No less success was achieved by the US aircraft manufacturer Zunum Aero, which has been developing two models of electric passenger airplanes since 2013, one of which is focused on operation in the commercial transport sector, and the other is aimed at business transportation. The implementation of the Zunum AeroJet business jet is scheduled for 2020 year, and it is likely that this 10-local aircraft will be able to compete successfully with the largest aircraft manufacturers currently engaged in the production of administrative-type aircraft. As for the model Zunum Aero CRJ, the timing of this project will depend on the success of creating a business jet, but experts say that this aircraft will be able to successfully fly into the air by 2022 already.

Israeli engineers from the company "Eviation" also were able to greatly advance in the implementation of the project of creating an electric aircraft intended for the transport of people on board. According to representatives of the company "Eviation", the aircraft Eviation Aircraft will be able to fly at distances of up to one thousand kilometers, with a maximum capacity on board to 12 people. At the moment the project is still under implementation, however, it is assumed that by 2023 the aircraft will be able to make its first flight.

Commercial passenger liner Wright Electric is a fairly interesting project, implemented by American engineers and scientists. As follows from the official data, this aircraft allows transporting up to 186 passengers up to 900 kilometers on its board, which is quite suitable for flights on local, regional and even international routes, while the cost of flight can be reduced by 50-60%.

In fact, aircraft builders are actively introducing new technologies, and we will be able to see and feel the future of aviation in the next decade.

"..determined mainly by the amount of fuel consumed ..."
Yeah, right now is determined by fuel. A ticket from Khabarovsk to Moscow is cheaper than from Khabarovsk to P.Kamchatsky. The distance is less, and the fuel is spent less, is it logical? Currently, the cost of the product (service) is overestimated by 200-300%. And all this stretches to the top .....

And what, already at invented mini accumulators of huge capacity? Or a perpetual motion machine. A car weighing less than a ton rides 100 km. And such an aircraft will be weighted with passengers around 80 tons without weight of batteries.

As it follows from official data, this airplane allows transporting up to 186 passengers up to 90 kilometers on board, which is suitable for flights on local, regional and even international routes

Is 90km enough for international routes? From Switzerland, perhaps. Can nolly add all the same?

There it is written - 900 km, learn how to read correctly in Russian ...

Focusing on the size, weight and carrying capacity of that "pterodactyl" on electric traction, which barely crossed
Atlantic, we can assume that anonymous science fictionists have aimed at an atomic engine! .. However, given the modern protective materials of the reactor, we can safely assume that such a liner will weigh at least ... 1000 tons! And I do not intend to start a useful download ...
