NATO rejects Serbian request to send police and army contingent to Kosovo

NATO refused Serbia's demand to send troops to Kosovo.

NATO countries decided to refuse Serbia's demand to send army and police units to the north of Kosovo to control the situation in the region. The reason for this is the fact that NATO does not consider Kosovo to be part of Serbia, and therefore Belgrade does not have any rights to use its power structures here.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that NATO had rejected Serbia's request to deploy a police and army contingent to Kosovo. Vučić did not give any details on this matter, however, apparently, the situation on the border between Serbia and Kosovo is deteriorating deliberately. This may be due to the fact that Serbia continues to support Russia and refuses to impose any sanctions on it.

Despite the fact that the recent conflict on the border between Serbia and Kosovo was avoided after NATO threatened to send troops to the north of the republic if the barricades were not dismantled, the situation on the border between Kosovo and Serbia continues to escalate at the moment. This may well escalate into an armed conflict.
