Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov was detained on suspicion of receiving a large bribe. Officials claim that the amount of improper remuneration amounted to at least 1 million rubles. If proven guilty, Ivanov could face up to 15 years in prison.

Timur Ivanov, who has held this post since May 2016, before his appointment to the Ministry of Defense, worked as Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region and General Director of JSC Oboronstroy. Ivanov’s responsibilities in the ministry included overseeing the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of military facilities, including the restoration of Mariupol, as well as managing housing and medical support for the Russian Armed Forces.
