The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova announced the possibility of localizing the production of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems on the territory of Ukraine. According to her, this issue was discussed during two visits of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the United States in 2023.

Markarova emphasized that Ukraine has the potential for partial production of elements of the Patriot system, as well as their final assembly.

“There is a practice of transferring technologies for production to other countries and work is already underway on this”she added.

Technology transfer and localization of military equipment production is a step that can significantly strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and increase its industrial potential in the arms sector. However, experts believe that in reality the United States is unlikely to take such a step, at least until the situation in Ukraine is resolved, since otherwise there is a risk that Russia could take over the technology, which would be a serious blow for Washington .
