US ramps up production of HIMARS systems after success in Ukraine

The United States announced the build-up of HIMARS systems after their use in Ukraine.

After the HIMARS systems were used in Ukraine for more than six months, it became known that the United States decided to increase the production of these weapons, including to strengthen its own armed forces. According to Reuters, the use of this weapon was very successful, which forced Lockheed Martin to increase production.

Lockheed Martin's Mobile Rocket Launcher Plant in Camden, Arkansas, is preparing to ramp up production of the HIMARS system after its success on the battlefield in Ukraine boosted demand from other countries, executives said on Monday. During a call with investors, Lockheed's CEO said, "On the HIMARS specifically, we have already met with our long lead supply chain to plan for an increase in production to 96 such units per year." Lockheed started 2022 with a capacity of 48 HIMARS launchers but has since increased production to 60 units."- сообщает Reuters agency.

Taking into account the increase in production, it is obvious that some of the units can be additionally sent to Ukraine. However, one of the largest customers of these weapons was Poland, which sent Washington a request for the supply of 486 launchers, of which 468 will be placed on Polish-made trucks.
