The United States is ready to transfer the Iron Dome system to Ukraine

The United States intends to transfer the Iron Dome missile defense system to Ukraine.

According to information released at a meeting of the Senate Committee, the United States of America is ready to send one of the batteries of the Iron Dome missile defense system (ABM) to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This statement was made by the head of the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Lieutenant General Daniel Carbler.

Recall that the Iron Dome system was developed in Israel and became an effective means of protection against rocket and artillery fire. The US currently has two batteries for this system. One of them is currently undergoing an upgrade procedure, while the second is ready for operation and is awaiting a request from the Ukrainian side.

This decision caused active discussions both inside the United States and outside the country. The question of whether such powerful military equipment should be transferred to Ukraine remains an open question, given that the United States itself is the main financier and recipient of this system. However, independent Senator Angus King emphasized that the funding of the system is a regular US practice.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already mentioned the possibility of transferring the Iron Dome missile defense system to Ukraine in the past, however, this topic has subsequently faded into the background. However, current events indicate a renewed interest in this issue.
