Russian self-propelled guns "Malva" can enter the troops in a few months

The self-propelled guns "Malva" will go into service with the Russian army after the successful completion of state tests.

The Russian wheeled self-propelled gun "Malva", the development of which started in 2019, has successfully passed state tests. This was announced by the Director General of the concern "Uralvagonzavod" Alexander Potapov to the TASS agency. It is reported that in the near future it will begin to enter service with the army.

"Malva" is a 152-mm artillery gun mounted on a four-axle four-wheel drive chassis BAZ-6610-027. A feature of the new combat vehicle is the refusal to armor the installation site of the gun on the chassis and the gun turret, which significantly reduces the weight of the structure. This allows the Malva to be transported aboard military transport aircraft of the Il-76 type.

In terms of its characteristics, "Malva" surpasses many foreign counterparts, including the French Caesar. The firing range of the Russian gun is more than 24 km, while it is capable of firing up to 7 rounds per minute.

"Malva" is presented at the international arms exhibition MILEX-2023, which is taking place these days in Minsk. According to the general director of Uralvagonzavod, the shipment of the first batch of guns to the troops will begin in the near future.

"We are pleased with the results of state tests, which were completed successfully at the end of 2022 and the first pilot batch of these machines is currently being assembled", Potapov emphasized.

The appearance of "Malva" in the arsenal of the Russian army means a significant increase in firepower and maneuverability of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
