Russia will provide weapons to Sudan in exchange for a naval base on the Red Sea

Became known the details of the deployment of the Russian military base in Sudan.

After Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made a statement that agreements between Khartoum and Moscow on the deployment of a Russian naval base in Sudan had been reached and further actions were only formal in nature, some details of the negotiations between Moscow and Khartoum.

According to the Sudanese edition of the Sudan Tribune, agreements between the Russian and Sudanese sides have indeed been reached. As a result, Russia will have the opportunity to base up to four ships, including nuclear ships, on the territory of the naval base, as well as deploy up to 300 of its military personnel and members of the personnel of the naval base on the territory of a military facility. In exchange for this, Sudan will be provided with some weapons, the nature of which has not yet been disclosed - in all likelihood, we are talking about military aircraft and armored vehicles.

“The Sudanese army has given the green light to the military base after receiving a commitment from Russia to meet Sudanese requests, including weapons and equipment. The military base on the Red Sea will receive 300 servicemen and four warships, including nuclear ones. The base is critical to Moscow's plans to expand its influence in Africa and link the landlocked countries where they are present to the Red Sea.", the Sudan Tribune said in a statement.

When exactly Russian warships will receive the right to be based on the territory of the naval base in Sudan is unknown.
