Prime Minister of the Netherlands: discussions on the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine have begun

The Netherlands is considering sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, reported on ongoing discussions with NATO partners regarding the possible transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Denmark, Great Britain, a number of European countries and the USA are taking part in the negotiations.

The Prime Minister stressed that the dialogue will continue until the participants in the discussion come to an agreed decision. Such a step, according to Western countries, can become an important element in supporting Ukraine in the current political situation and conflict.

The transfer of F-16 fighters is a hot issue in the framework of cooperation between NATO member countries and Ukraine. In the case of a positive decision, this could lead to a new round of conflict between Russia and Ukraine, since such fighters will be equipped with long-range cruise missiles.

Nevertheless, Western countries are aware that the supply of such weapons to Ukraine can lead to NATO countries becoming parties to the conflict, which the West is trying to avoid with all its might, especially against the background of the depletion of equipment and ammunition depots.
