German Defense Minister Lambrecht has decided to resign.

Against the backdrop of the appearance in Germany of clear opponents of the supply of German weapons to Ukraine, it became known that German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht decided to resign. Similar information is provided by the German edition of Bild.

“Christine Lambrecht has made the decision to step down as Secretary of Defense. Thus, the initiative to resign from the position comes from her, and not from the office. Now the question is the exact time of the resignation. Her successor is already being discussed by the country's authorities.", - reports the edition "Bild".

Against the background of the fact that Lambrecht is resigning precisely because of the active promotion of arms supplies to Ukraine, it is more than likely that an opponent of Ukraine's weapons will take Lambrecht's place. This indicates that, almost certainly, Ukraine may lose the opportunity to receive not only German Leopard 2 tanks, but also Patriot air defense systems, which Lambrecht actively advocated for sending.
