Canada to give Ukraine another NASAMS SAM battery

Canada announced the purchase of a NASAMS SAM battery for Ukraine.

The Canadian authorities have decided to allocate funds for the purchase of NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems for the needs of Ukraine. We are talking about the acquisition of the NASAMS 2 SAM battery, which can be delivered to Ukraine at the end of this year in addition to the two batteries already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as five that are planned to be delivered to the United States until 2025.

“This morning I spoke with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov and heard him directly: air defense systems are Ukraine's top priority. That is why Canada is purchasing the National Advanced Air Defense Missile System (NASAMS) from the US to transfer to Ukraine. This is the first Canadian delivery of an air defense system to Ukraine. In the face of Russian airstrikes in Ukraine, this air defense system will help protect Ukrainian communities and critical infrastructure from drone, missile and aircraft attacks. NASAMS has a very high success rate and is a valuable contribution to the defense of Ukraine.”, Canadian Prime Minister Anita Anand said.

The intensive saturation of Ukraine with air defense means indicates that the West is preparing for large-scale deliveries of its weapons to Ukraine and various types of air defense systems will have to cover military equipment arriving in Ukraine.
