Iran officially confirms the purchase of Russian Su-35 fighters

Iran has officially confirmed the purchase of Su-35 fighter jets from Russia.

Shahriyar Heydari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), told the Iranian news agency Tasnim that the Su-35 fighter jets ordered by Iran from Russia should arrive at the beginning of the next Iranian year (spring 2023 - ed. note). . This is the first official confirmation of the purchase of these combat aircraft from Russia after the appearance of unofficial information.

“Shahriyar Heydari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Council, in an interview with a political correspondent for the Tasnim news agency, said that the Su-35 fighters ordered by Iran in Russia will arrive in the country early next year. The exact number of Russian Su-35 fighters transferred to Iran is not called, however, earlier there was information that Iran could acquire from 24 to 60 Russian 4++ generation fighters.

The Russian side has not yet confirmed a deal with Iran for the sale of Su-35 fighter jets to the Islamic Republic.
