The Czech Republic will consider the possibility of supplying L-159 combat training aircraft to Ukraine

The Czech Republic can provide Ukraine with combat training aircraft L-159.

Czech President Petr Pavel hinted at the possibility of transferring Czech military aircraft L-159 to Ukrainian aviation. According to the head of state, Western countries often refuse to supply modern fighter jets to Ukraine due to a lack of trained pilots in the Armed Forces of Ukraine capable of operating such machines.

The Czech President also pointed to Western concerns about the transfer of modern equipment and systems installed on Western aircraft into the hands of Russia. It is likely that when the F-16 is handed over to Ukraine, certain equipment will be dismantled.

In this context, Petr Pavel proposed to consider the possibility of transferring Czech L-159 aircraft to Ukraine, which can be modernized and armed. Such aircraft are capable of carrying, among other things, 500-kilogram bombs, as well as using NATO-standard missiles.

At the moment, L-159 aircraft are in service with the Czech and Iraqi Air Forces. If such a deal is carried out, Ukraine will be able to significantly increase its military capabilities in the air without creating problems with the training of pilots and without the risk of transferring secret technologies.

The L-159 Alca (Advanced Light Combat Aircraft) is a Czech single-seat light combat aircraft designed and manufactured by Aero Vodochody. This aircraft is an upgraded version of the L-39 Albatros combat training aircraft and is designed to perform various missions, including support for ground forces, interception, education and training of pilots. The L-159 is powered by a 124 kN Honeywell F100-GA-28,0 turbofan engine. The aircraft has a maximum speed of 936 km/h and a flight range of up to 2 km. The armament of the aircraft includes a DEFA 530 554 mm cannon, as well as various air-to-ground, air-to-air missiles and some types of bombs on several suspension nodes.
