Balitsky: Armed Forces of Ukraine again cannot organize an offensive due to rains

Balitsky said that the rains again prevent the Armed Forces of Ukraine from launching a counteroffensive.

Acting head of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, Yevhen Balitsky, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) are fully prepared for a counteroffensive, however, prolonged rains prevent the start of this operation.

Balitsky explained that although the ground began to dry out, heavy rainfall caused mudslides. For the successful use of heavy equipment, which Kyiv is preparing for a counteroffensive, it is required that the earth dry up to a depth of 15-20 centimeters. Otherwise, tanks and armored personnel carriers run the risk of getting bogged down in the mud, which will reduce their maneuverability.

In addition, Balitsky recalled that the Leopard-2 and Challenger 2 tanks had not previously been used in conditions similar to the situation in Ukraine. These combat vehicles are designed for combat in desert areas, but their use in constant rain, slush and mud can be difficult.

Thus, rains and adverse weather conditions have become a serious obstacle to the start of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, however, the risk of an unexpected attack remains very high.
