American technology in the field of hypersound turned out to be backward

The United States has lagged behind for a long time in the field of hypersound and nuclear weapons.

Mikhail Kovalchuk, president of the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute, said at an open lecture at the Peter the Great Polytechnic University on April 8 that the United States is far behind Russia in terms of the development of nuclear weapons and hypersonic weapons. He noted that, despite the fact that the US defense budget exceeds the Russian budget by 20 times and amounts to $800 billion (66 trillion rubles), the American side is significantly inferior to the Russian side in a number of areas.

Kovalchuk stressed that the United States does not have hypersonic weapons and lags behind Russia in the nuclear complex. He also noted that Russia has always caught up with the United States in military technology and today the American side will not be able to catch up with Russia for a long time.

In September 2022, Undersecretary of the US Army Gabe Camarillo announced that the Pentagon plans to deliver its first hypersonic weapons to the troops at the end of 2023. However, some of the projects had to be abandoned, as they demonstrated a lack of effectiveness, and some could not even pass the tests.
