Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the plans of some countries to use military force against Transnistria have no prospects. In an interview with the Russian radio stations Sputnik, Moscow Speaks and Komsomolskaya Pravda, Lavrov emphasized that these countries are trying to create a hotbed of tension from Transnistria and inflict a strategic defeat on Russia in this direction.

“Of course, they want to make Transnistria a hotbed of tension”“, Lavrov said, commenting on statements that “it is necessary to suppress” Transnistria by military means.

He expressed the belief that such actions will not lead to success and are futile.

These statements by the minister reflect Moscow's concern about potential attempts to change the status quo in the Transnistrian region by force. Russia, which has peacekeeping forces in the region, views such plans as a threat to its interests and stability in the post-Soviet space.

Lavrov also pointed out the need to avoid any actions that could lead to destabilization in this strategically important region for Russia. It is emphasized that any military actions against Transnistria will be met with serious resistance and will not bring the desired result for their initiators.
