The water level in the Tobol River near the city of Kurgan continues to increase very quickly

The water level in the Tobol River near the city of Kurgan continues to rise steadily, causing concern among local authorities and residents. According to the latest data published on the official website of the city administration, at 10:00 am (08:00 Moscow time) on April 16, the water level reached 745 centimeters.

According to forecasts from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, water in the Tobol River will continue to rise in the coming days. It is expected that the maximum level may reach 1070 centimeters. This is a level significantly higher than many previous years, including the record flood of 1994, when water rose more than ten meters.

According to experts, there is a serious risk for the Kurganmashzavod enterprise, where military equipment is produced.

In response to the growing threat, the governor of the Kurgan region, Vadim Shumkov, called on residents of dangerous areas to take precautions and begin evacuating. The head of the region emphasized that in the near future leaving some zones may become impossible due to the expected flooding of roads.
