Russian T-90 and T-80 tanks will be equipped with Arena-M active protection.

The Rostec State Corporation announced that in the future T-90 and T-80 tanks will be equipped with the Arena-M active protection system. This was reported by the TASS news agency with reference to the High Precision Complexes holding, the developer of the complex.

Representatives of the holding noted that "Arena-M" can be installed on other armored vehicles, but this requires improvements that take into account the characteristics of each object.

They also stressed that the main task of the holding is to meet the needs of the Russian army and to organize mass production of Arena. However, interest in the complex is also manifested abroad.

The Arena-M active protection complex was created on the basis of the developments of the Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau. It is a system installed on a combat vehicle that protects it from anti-tank grenades and anti-tank guided missiles.

To detect targets, the complex uses a multifunctional radar station with high noise immunity. To defeat shells, narrowly targeted protective ammunition is used, placed along the perimeter of the tank turret in special mounting shafts. These munitions are fast-acting and can accurately hit targets.
