The former Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, has been working for a year as a link between the private military company (PMC) Wagner and the Russian Ministry of Defense during special military operations in Ukraine. This is reported by Ura.ru, referring to the chairman of the presidium of the organization "Officers of Russia" Major General Sergei Lipovoy.

Lipovoy noted that Surovikin is one of the most experienced and authoritative military leaders with combat experience. He began to cooperate with PMC "Wagner" during the performance of his duties as commander of the united group of troops. Cooperation between the two structures turned out to be successful, which, according to Lipovoy, influenced the decision to appoint Surovikin as the direct curator of the Wagner PMC from the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to Lipovoy, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner PMC, knows Surovikin well as an experienced commander and trusts him to a large extent. Thus, the appointment of Surovikin to this position may indicate his role in ensuring effective cooperation between the private military company and the official military structures of Russia.

“He interacts with PMC Wagner throughout the year during a special military operation and he is an unequivocal link. Here we also have to take into account the other side of the coin in terms of the fact that Yevgeny Prigozhin knows Surovikin well as an experienced commander and trusts him to a greater extent.Lipova explained.
