NATO AWACS systems will be deployed in Romania from January 17 to monitor Russian military activity

NATO is deploying AWACS assets near Romanian borders to target cruise missiles and conduct reconnaissance.

Starting January 17, NATO will deploy its AWACS systems in Romania. The latter are intended not only for reconnaissance at distances up to 600 kilometers, but also for targeting cruise missiles, air defense systems, etc. NATO did not explain the reasons, however, there are two versions - a probable Russian offensive in one of the directions and a possible offensive operation by Ukrainian troops supported by NATO.

At the moment, it is known that NATO countries have deployed AWACS systems on the territory of Romania and will use aircraft in a virtually continuous mode for reconnaissance missions and strike control. Given the remoteness of Romania from the territory of Russia (and it is more than likely that the aircraft will operate over the Black Sea), the aircraft will be able to monitor the Crimea, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, and taking into account the recently announced plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be ready to organize an offensive, this causes extremely serious concerns.

In turn, experts draw attention to the fact that since the beginning of the year, the territory of Romania and its airspace have been subjected to powerful electronic suppression. This does not exclude the possibility that the efficiency of the AWACS aircraft may be extremely low.
