The President of the Central African Republic proposed placing a Russian military base in the country

The President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Archange Touadera, expressed support for the idea of locating a Russian military base in the east of the country. In an interview with RTVI television, he said that such a step would help ensure the security of the CAR’s borders and strengthen the protection of national forces.

According to Touadera, Russian instructors have already made a significant contribution to the training of local military personnel, having trained more than 10 thousand troops. These trained forces are already actively involved in operations throughout the Central African Republic.

The initiative to create a Russian base in the east of the country is intended as a measure to strengthen the military presence in the region, which could help stabilize the situation and increase the level of security. This step is seen as a continuation of the already existing cooperation between Russia and the CAR in the field of defense and security.

President Touadera also emphasized that the presence of the Russian military helps strengthen the country’s defensive capabilities, which is especially important in the context of current challenges for the CAR.
