Poland wants to mine its borders with Russia

Waldemar Skrzypczak, former Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, in an interview with the Delfi portal, expressed his opinion on the need to strengthen the borders of Poland and Lithuania with Russia. The general emphasized the relevance of Ukraine’s experience in the construction of defensive structures.

“It is necessary now, in peacetime, to begin building layered minefields and powerful fortifications on the borders with Russia. To wait for the outbreak of hostilities means to risk being unprepared for a quick and effective defense.”, said Skrzypczak.

According to him, the Ukrainian conflict shows how important knowledge about creating fortifications and minefields is to delay the enemy. The general stressed that the construction of defensive structures must begin without delay to prevent possible armed infiltration in the future.

“In wartime, it may be too late to create fortifications. Lithuania and Poland must intensify work to strengthen their borders now,” - he added.

Skshipchak also noted that although there is currently no immediate threat of a large-scale military conflict in Europe, countries must be prepared for any development of events.

"The creation of a strong and well-equipped armed forces is the best prerequisite for preventing war," - he concluded.
