Unidentified persons reported that the MANPADS from which the Mi-8 was shot down in the Bryansk region is located in Mytishchi

An anonymous report about a MANPADS in a truck that shot down an Mi-8 in the Bryansk region prompted an operational check.

The administration of Bryansk received an anonymous message that the portable anti-aircraft missile system (MANPADS), from which the Mi-8 helicopter was shot down in the Bryansk region, is in a truck parked in Mytishchi. The law enforcement agencies immediately began to verify this information. This is reported by the journalists of "Shot".

The message caused a stormy reaction and an operational investigation was quickly organized. Shortly after receiving the information, the truck indicated in the report was found, however, not in Mytishchi, but at a distance of about 1600 km to the south, in Adler.

The driver of the truck, which allegedly contained MANPADS, stated that he was completely unaware of the presence of any anti-aircraft missile system in his vehicle. An on-site inspection of the truck did not reveal any traces of the presence of weapons or signs of their transportation.

What exactly caused the appearance of a false message is unknown.
