Carpenter: US fully supports transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine

The United States has said it supports the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

Michael Carpenter, who is the US Ambassador to the OSCE, said that the United States of America will not interfere with the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by any of the countries and will support this proposal if it finds support from NATO countries or other US allies .

"The United States will support the transfer of F-16 fighter jets by allies to Ukraine", - said the American ambassador to the OSCE.

At the moment, the Netherlands has advocated the transfer of F-16 fighters to the Ukrainian Air Force and, in all likelihood, a decision on this matter will be finally made in mid-February, as part of a new meeting of Ukraine's allies in Germany.

According to open sources, the Netherlands Air Force is armed with 61 F-16 fighters. This does not exclude the possibility that this country can provide Ukraine with 6-12 combat aircraft of this type. Nevertheless, and Kyiv is also aware of this, it may take about six months to train pilots, and therefore deliveries, if they begin, will not be earlier than the end of summer.
