Hezbollah shoots down Israeli Hermes 450 drone

Fighters from the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah successfully shot down an Israeli drone in the Aishiya region in southern Lebanon. This was reported by the official Telegram channel of the movement. The incident occurred on Sunday evening. The downed drone is classified as a Hermes 450, an Israeli-made multi-role reconnaissance vehicle.

Hezbollah's actions are a response to Israel's constant violations of Lebanese airspace, which have been going on for several years. These violations include regular flights of both surveillance UAVs and combat aircraft, which threaten Lebanese sovereignty and violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Since the escalation of hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli army in October last year, the IDF has increased its use of armed drones to attack homes and vehicles in southern Lebanon and the suburbs of Beirut. These attacks have repeatedly resulted in the deaths of civilians as well as commanders of Hezbollah's combat wing.
