FT: Berlin is annoyed by the low number of Leopard 2 tanks supplied to Ukraine by NATO members

Due to the small supply of tanks to Ukraine by other NATO countries, Germany is forced to give Kyiv the last serviceable tanks.

Despite the fact that during the preliminary negotiations, the NATO countries agreed to transfer almost several hundred Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, it turned out that subsequently the NATO countries either completely refused to transfer these heavy combat vehicles to Kiev, or allocated units of tanks. Because of this, in order to form two tank battalions, Germany is forced to disarm its own armed forces, transferring to Ukraine the last serviceable combat vehicles in service (during the audit, it was found that about 70% of German Leopard 2 tanks were unsuitable for combat missions).

A key feature of the German Leopard 2 tanks is that the latter are capable of operating as part of at least a company formation, and therefore, to send two battalions of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, Ukraine needs to supply at least 60 combat vehicles, and today the largest the only suppliers of these tanks are Germany and Poland.

Given the data of the Financial Times, it is obvious that Kyiv will no longer be able to receive combat vehicles of this type into service.
