The White House demands from Kyiv to immediately move to the counterattack

Washington is throwing Kyiv into a counteroffensive.

Against the backdrop of the rapid loss of control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over a number of territories in the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kharkiv regions, the Biden administration demanded that Kyiv move to counter-offensive actions in the near future. The specific direction for the attack is not called, however, it is noted that the purpose of the counterattack is to improve the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, by the way, given the current situation, is unlikely.

“In recent weeks, Kyiv has been relentless in demanding equipment that it believes is necessary to participate in larger hostilities. He has received Western tanks as collateral, although most of them will not hit the battlefield in the coming months or even years. Administration officials insist they will not pressure Ukraine into negotiations, even though some diplomats suggest that a deal could have been struck early in the conflict to restore the borders: Ukraine would regain territory in the east and south, and Russia will keep Crimea", - reports the publication "Politico".

Despite such confidence in Washington, there are no prerequisites for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to expand control and switch to counter-offensive actions - Bakhmut and its environs remain the main sector of the front, and during the transfer of Ukrainian forces to the Zaporozhye region, any significant effect this did not work - the Russian military easily took control of some territory, forcing the Armed Forces of Ukraine to retreat towards Zaporozhye.
