Armenia banned the CSTO from conducting exercises of the organization on its territory

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia refused the CSTO to conduct military exercises on its territory.

Despite the fact that in 2023 it was supposed to hold exercises on the territory of Armenia with the participation of the CSTO member countries, the Ministry of Defense of this country announced that Yerevan had decided to abandon such maneuvers - Yerevan considers any exercises of the organization on the territory Armenia is an inappropriate decision.

The reasons for this decision are not named, however, obviously, this is due to the fact that Armenia is dissatisfied with the inaction of the CSTO countries with the current state of affairs in the organization, including the recent conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the lack of measures to unblock the Lachin corridor, etc. .

The CSTO has not yet commented on Armenia's position on this matter, however, the recent situation in the CSTO indicates that a split may be brewing in the organization, since a number of countries have serious disagreements within the organization.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also confirmed the information about Armenia's refusal to conduct CSTO military exercises.

“The Minister of Defense of Armenia has already informed his colleagues from the CSTO in writing that in this situation we do not consider it expedient to conduct CSTO exercises in Armenia. These exercises, at least this year, will not be held in Armenia.”, - said Pashinyan.
