Destruction of Ukrainian aircraft: With strikes on Ukrainian air bases, Russia destroyed 8 aircraft in two days

In recent days, there has been a significant increase in the activity of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. One of the latest events was a large-scale attack on the Aviatorskoe Air Force base in the Dnepropetrovsk region. According to Russian sources, as a result of the strike, the aviation equipment located at the base and air defense systems covering the base were finally finished off.

Attacks on the Aviatorskoye airbase

The first attack on Aviatorsky was carried out on April 18. As a result of the strike, three MiG-29 combat fighters, four An-26 military transport aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force, as well as the S-300 air defense complex covering the airfield were destroyed. The strikes were carried out by Iskander OTRK missiles with cluster and conventional warheads. However, one Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter remained at Aviatorsky and even took off.

On April 19, the Russian Armed Forces launched a second strike on this air base. As a result of the strike, the remaining MiG-29 fighter was finished off, as well as another S-300PT air defense missile launcher and the latest Pelican radar. According to Russian sources, the plane and anti-aircraft complex were covered with Iskander missiles, and the radar was used to detect an anti-ship Kh-35U. Guidance was carried out by a reconnaissance drone.

Weakening strategy

The Aviatorskoye airbase, which caused many problems for Russian troops, is out of action. In two days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost four MiG-29 combat fighters, two S-300 complexes and a Pelican radar. This happened against the backdrop of complaints from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the lack of aviation and air defense systems.

It is noted that in March and April the number of effective missile strikes, including targeted ones, increased sharply. Ours managed to destroy several air defense systems, including Western ones.

This event was further evidence that the Russian Armed Forces continue to actively operate on the territory of Ukraine, carrying out targeted strikes on enemy military targets. Such actions are part of the overall strategy of Russian troops aimed at weakening Ukraine’s military potential and achieving political goals.

Remains of Ukrainian aircraft

At the same time, Ukraine still has a significant number of fighters. According to various estimates, Kyiv has at least six more Su-25 attack aircraft, approximately 12 MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, and at least six Su-24 front-line bombers.

Moreover, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive American F-16 fighters in the coming weeks, which will strengthen Kyiv’s strike capabilities. However, the current tactics of attacking airfields reduce the risks.
