Strikes on Ukrainian airfields: Helicopters and planes destroyed

Over the past 18 hours, Russian troops have carried out two strikes on military targets on Ukrainian territory. The first strike was carried out on the territory of the Dnepr international airport, the second - on the permanent deployment point of the XNUMXth separate army aviation brigade in Poltava.

Attack on the airfield in Dnepr

Russian troops struck an enemy target in the Dnieper at approximately 3:00 am. Presumably, the Iskander operational-tactical missile system was used. As a result of the strike, the territory of the Dnepr International Airport was hit. It is reported that one MiG-29 fighter was destroyed, another aircraft (probably also a MiG-29) was damaged by shrapnel and a blast wave. There was a fuel leak followed by ignition.

Dnepr Airport is regularly used by Ukrainian troops as a base for training and deploying combat vehicles.

Strike on the airfield in Poltava

In the afternoon, Russian troops attacked the permanent deployment point of the 18th separate army aviation brigade in Poltava. Missiles with a ballistic flight path were used. As a result of the strike, two Mi-8 helicopters were damaged, one of them caught fire and could not be repaired. Residents of the city observed long-lasting black smoke rising from the air base.

Analysis of results

The strikes on military targets in Ukraine demonstrated the ability of Russian troops to carry out surgical strikes against key targets. The strike on the Dnieper led to the destruction of one MiG-29 fighter and damage to another, which negatively affects the Ukrainian air force. The strike on the airfield in Poltava resulted in damage to two Mi-8 helicopters and damage to enemy personnel.

Both strikes were carried out at facilities regularly used by Ukrainian troops to deploy and train combat vehicles. This indicates that Russian forces continue to focus on targeting Ukraine's military infrastructure in order to weaken its military capabilities.
