6 ATACMS missiles shot down over Crimea: Russian air defense systems set a record for destroying ATACMS missiles

On Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a record destruction of ATACMS missiles fired by Ukraine. This is the first time in history that so many ATACMS missiles have been destroyed in one day, and probably in general.

ATACMS interception

ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles are operational-tactical surface-to-surface missiles manufactured in the United States. They are equipped with a high-precision guidance system and are capable of hitting targets at a distance of 160 to 300 km. Earlier it was reported about the supply of these missiles to Ukraine from the United States and other NATO countries.

ATACMS attack on Crimea

The destruction of six ATACMS missiles was made possible thanks to the high performance of Russian air defense systems and the professionalism of the military. Russia has some of the most advanced air defense systems in the world, capable of effectively countering any airborne threat.

One of the key Russian air defense systems is the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system. It is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 400 km and an altitude of up to 30 km. In addition, the S-400 can effectively counter any type of airborne threat, including aircraft, drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

Another important Russian air defense system is the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile system. It is designed to destroy enemy precision weapons, including cruise missiles, aerial bombs and drones, on short approach. Pantsir-S1 is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 20 km and an altitude of up to 15 km.

Destruction of Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment

Russian air defense systems have demonstrated high efficiency in repelling missile attacks. Since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, Russian air defense systems have destroyed 583 Ukrainian military aircraft, 270 helicopters, 21 unmanned aerial vehicles, 483 anti-aircraft missile systems, 502 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 15 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 798 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 1267 units of special military vehicles.

Where did ATACMS hit?

Judging by Avia.pro data, ATACMS missile strikes were aimed at targets located on the territory of Crimea. In particular, an attack on the airfield in Dzhankoy was previously reported, however, taking into account the official data of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the ATACMS missiles were successfully shot down.

The Russian Ministry of Defense continues to monitor the situation and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of Russian military personnel and the civilian population. Russia urges Ukraine and its international partners to refrain from further military build-up and provocations, which only worsen the conflict and undermine stability in the region.
