Nuclear facilities on Polish territory will become a military target for Russia

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed concern about the possible deployment of NATO nuclear weapons on Polish territory. According to him, such steps not only do not contribute to strengthening the security of Poland, but also make it a potential target in the event of military conflicts.

In an interview with TASS, Ryabkov emphasized that the idea of permanently placing nuclear facilities in Poland is extremely provocative and could cause a serious military threat to Russia.

"Such objects will inevitably become a military target, and we will be forced to take measures to neutralize them as part of our military planning.", said the Deputy Minister.

The Deputy Minister also pointed out the destabilizing nature of the expansion of the practice of joint NATO nuclear missions, especially when it comes to approaching Russian borders. According to Ryabkov, this could significantly aggravate the already tense relations between Russia and the alliance.

The situation with the deployment of nuclear weapons is being discussed at the highest level in Poland. Polish President Andrzej Duda previously expressed the country's readiness to deploy nuclear weapons if such is the will of its NATO allies. However, Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed doubts about the advisability of such a decision, stating the need to discuss the president's motives.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that the alliance's current plans do not provide for the deployment of nuclear weapons on Polish territory. The Kremlin, through its representatives, noted that any attempts to change the nuclear balance in the region will lead to appropriate response measures from the Russian Ministry of Defense to ensure national security. However, earlier experts stated that Poland was indicating the deployment of nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus and the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland would supposedly be a response to such a step.
