A British citizen was sentenced to 9,5 years in prison for smoking in an airplane.

As reported by British media, such a severe judicial sentence is connected mainly with the fact that a man arranged a fire on board a passenger aircraft, thereby endangering the lives of a large number of people. Initially, the man was sentenced to 4,5 years of imprisonment, however, the judicial board decided to tighten the sentence, thereby increasing the length of serving in prison more than 2 times.

It should be clarified that in most countries smoking on board passenger aircraft may be the reason for the initiation of a criminal case, and more recently, for avia-doboshirs, such punishment exists in the territory of the Russian Federation.
